Concept and character art capturing the intended tone and mechanics of a game I hope to make one day. A spiritual successor to Banjo Kazooie, called Pogo & Stick, which doesn’t just pay homage and fan service, but actually evolves and expands on the formula in fun and interesting ways.
Running:
Polished drawing of Pogo & Stick in a dynamic running pose.
Acorn:
The whole concept of Pogo & Stick obviously is meant to be a spiritual successor to Banjo Kazooie. In this case, instead of jiggies, they would collect magic acorns!
Animal baddies:
I wanted my own spin on the “animals stuck inside robots” angle from Sonic. In this case, they’d be animals taken over by evil alien mushrooms. A little bit of Sonic meets Half-Life meets The Last of Us, with a healthy dash of silliness!
Gorilla shrooms:
Bit of a boss concept and some variations on the mushroom baddies.
Hanging:
Tinkering with some fun aesthetics for basic moves. Thought it could be fun if every time you use Stick to grapple a branch, you get a brief moment of panic and struggle from both characters.
3D:
Still working on a different version of this, much more lo-fi and in line with the aesthetic you’d see in a PSOne or N64 game back in the day. I do like the detail I put into this version though. Sculpted this in NomadSculpt for iPad.
