Bughaven is a story and fictional world that I’ve been working on for a long while (one might say *much too long* for how little I have to show of it), but it’s very dear to my heart. I’ve created functional character models for the two leads, a lone scavenger ant and a militant soldier bee, that I plan to rig and animate in the near future.

Big group sketch:
For Inktober a few years back, I did sketches for as many bug variations as I could. Some of the designs are rushed and not very thought-out, but some (like the psychotic cockroach and mosquito) are little points of pride for me.

Bee sketches:
I’ve done so much concept work for the bee characters, trying to find the right intersection of insect anatomy, fantasy, and science fiction. Still not sure I’ve found the right equilibrium yet, but the process is so fun that I don’t mind.
